Kindergarten and Grammar 1 Class Descriptions
Below is a general outline of the content of both the
Kindergarten class and the Grammar 1 class for the coming year.

2020 - 2021 Tuition: $2300
Both classes meet for 30 weeks.
KINDERGARTEN APPLICANTS MUST BE 5 YEARS OLD BY SEPTEMBER 1 OF THE YEAR THEIR PARENTS APPLY.
Kindergarten has a focus of using Biblical principles to teach classroom etiquette, fellowship, and working hard as unto the Lord.
Memorization of Psalm 150, The Lord's Prayer, and several other selected passages.
An introduction to Geography including naming and identifying the 7 continents, 5 oceans, the US, and the state of Maryland as well as basic map reading skills. Exploration into some key US historical figures, symbols, and holidays. A brief history of the state of Maryland as time permits.
Identifying days of the week, months of the year, as well as exploration of the seasons and holidays.
Using our 5 senses to observe and study God's creation outdoors each meeting day (weather permitting). In addtion to an introduction to weather, the study of several animal habitats and the Scientific Method will be covered.
Mastering formation of the letters of the alphabet including both upper and lower case letters and numbers.
A study of select composers and their compostions. Exploration of tempo, beat and rhythm with instruments and our voices. An introductory study of the orchestra, its parts and muscial instruments.
Memorization of 7 poems with a focus on mastery, etiquette, expression, meter and rhythm.
An introduction to the color wheel, primary and secondary colors, tint, hue and shade. Exploration using different forms of media including pastels, crayons, markers, acrylic paint, watercolor paints, colored pencils, and model magic.

Grammar 1 2020-2021
GRAMMAR 1 APPLICANTS MUST BE 6 YEARS OLD BY SEPTEMBER 1 OF THE YEAR THEIR PARENTS APPLY.
Grammar 1 continues the focus on classroom etiquette using Biblical princples, fellowship with classmates, and working hard as unto the Lord. Students are also prepared for Grammar 2 through a gradual increase of their 'at home' assigments over the course of the academic year.
Memorization of selected Bible verses and passages. A focus on mastery and recitation.
Shurley English Level 1 - introduction to parts of speech, memorization of jingles, completion of specific lessons in the text.
Mastery of identifcation of 7 continents, 5 oceans, the US and the state of Maryland. A study of Columbus and the founding of the 13 colonies. Figure studies on selected historical persons.
Mastery of identification of the days of the week and months of the year. Exploration into important holidays and seasons.
Using our 5 senses to explore God's creation outdoors each meeting day (weather permitting). An introductory exploration of the human body, plants and seeds, and animal classification. A further study on meterology.
Mastery of upper and lowercase letters and numbers on both handwriting paper and lined paper. Introduction to correct format of name and date on papers. Develop skill of copying from the board.
Learning and singing the basic "Do-Re-Mi" scale, study of select composers and their compositions, exploration of different instruments and instrument families.
Memorization of 7 poems with a focus on mastery, etiquette, expression, meter, and rhythm.
Further study of the color wheel, primary and secondary colors, tint, hue and shade. Exploration using many different media. Learning about differernt artists and their famous works.
